Evander Holyfield a deadbeat dad?

Former boxing heavyweight champion Evander Holyfield hasn't fought a match in a while, but he is still making the newspapers. Unfortunately, he's in the legal notices section and the news isn't good. Holyfield's $10 million estate in Atlanta, Georgia is facing foreclosure and is about to be auctioned off to the highest bidder.

If that wasn't enough to make the champ want to punch someone, he is also facing deadbeat dad charges from one of the mothers of his children. Holyfield has been married just twice, but admits to at least nine children fathered out of wedlock. One of those children is a 10-year-old son with Toi Jenese Irvin. Irvin has gone to court claiming Holyfield is behind on his child support payments and now owes her $9000. She also says that Holyfield hasn't maintained a health insurance policy on their child despite a judge's order to do so.

It sounds like Holyfield is having some serious financial issues and the foreclosure and the child support issue may just be the beginning of things. Irvin's lawyer is aware of this and wants to make sure his client is at the top of the list when what's left of Holyfield's money is disbursed. "My concern is there may be a lot of other mothers not be getting paid, and I would like my client to be at front of the line," says her lawyer, Randy Kessler. And Kessler means business. If Holyfield doesn't pay up, the lawyer wants him tossed in jail. "This is such a small amount given the scope of what he has," Kessler said. "If Evander Holyfield can get away with it, anybody can. There are guys making $15,000 a year who go to jail for missing a $100 payment." Yeah, he's got a point there. I don't know what happened to the reported $200 million Holyfield has earned over the years, but perhaps he should have set a little of it aside to take care of all his kids.

Tony Hawk has a daughter

Professional skateboarder Tony Hawk finally got the girl. The baby girl, that is. On Monday, Hawk (is that not the perfect name for a skateboarder?) and his wife Lhotse welcomed their first child together, a daughter they named Kadence Clover. Pretty name, but they had better get used to hearing "how do you spell that?"

Little Kadence weighed in at 8 lbs., 8 oz. and measured 21 inches long. She is the first child for Tony and Lhotse as a couple, but the fourth child for Tony. 40-year-old Hawk has been married twice before and has three sons from those unions - Riley,15, Spencer,9, and Keegan,6.

Congratulations Tony and Lhotse!

Does Lindsay Lohan have a secret sister?

Is there no end to the drama that is the Lohan family? Just when it seemed that they were going to settle down and stay out of the headlines, up pops a secret love child. Well, maybe she's a secret love child, maybe not. The paternity test that Lindsay Lohan's dad Michael says he took earlier this week should clear that up in about ten to twelve days.

In the meantime, mama Lohan is just "shocked" to find out that during a marital separation back in 1994, her husband may have impregnated another woman. What's more, Michael Lohan has known about 13-year-old Ashley since the girl's mother became pregnant. According to Kristi Kaufmann, she and Michael had a brief affair and then he dumped her. When she found herself pregnant, she tracked him down and told him. But then he up and disappeared. Despite her efforts to find him, she says she didn't hear from Michael again until he contacted her from prison, where he was serving time for securities fraud. At that time, she says he admitted that he always knew the child was his and that he and Ashely began corresponding, although they never met.

Michael doesn't dispute most of that story, except the part about Ashley being his kid. He says that at first, he believed she was, but recently came to realize that the timing of Kaufmann's pregnancy didn't add up. "She had me so convinced. She had me snowballed," he says,

If Micheal is the father, he says he plans to do right by the girl. But according to Kaufmann, his track record for doing the right thing isn't all that great. "He was supposed to take a paternity test seven years ago, but he disappeared off the face of the earth," she says. "I just want this to be resolved and the truth to be told."

JLo and the nanny question

Four months after giving birth to twins, Jennifer Lopez looks fabulous. We know she looks fabulous because she has been photographed plenty since the twins were born in February. She and hubby Marc have been spotted at movie premieres, art galleries, fashion shows and more. But wait. Where, exactly are those twin bundles of joy while mom and dad are out on the town? Lopez has insisted that she does not have a nanny, so just who is minding the children?

Former Hollywood nanny Suzanne Hansen says Lopez' nanny denial is all about semantics. She may not have an on-staff person who she refers to as 'nanny', but she sure as heck isn't hiring the teenager next door to watch little Max and Emme while she hits the town. More likely, she is making use of her other household staff to keep an eye on the tots while she and Marc socialize.

"She probably has other people-not called nannies-who are taking care of her children," Hansen says. "She has assistants, housekeepers-someone like that who probably also likes kids and who is likely keeping an eye on them."

Hansen goes on to say that by denying that she has a nanny, Lopez is insulting our intelligence. I don't know about you, but I do not feel insulted. What I feel is closer to, oh, I don't know - envy? Lopez can call it what she wants, but I know that if I had a gazillion dollars and a mansion, I would have some hired help, too.

Divorce pays off for Russell Simmons' kids

Often when a family splits up, the children suffer financially as well as emotionally. I can't speak for the emotional state of Ming Lee and Aoki Simmons, but their parent's divorce sure isn't hurting their little pocketbooks. According to an agreement filed in Los Angeles Superior Court, the daughters of music and fashion mogul Russell Simmons and his estranged wife Kimora Lee will each receive $20,000 per month in support payments until they reach the age of eighteen.

You may recall that the fabulous Ms. Lee filed for divorce earlier this year after nine years of marriage. In return for his hefty child support payments, Simmons will receive "reasonable child visitation ... accompanied at all times by the children's nanny and security personnel."

It's not like these girls aren't already living in the lap of luxury, but that additional $480,000 a year will allow them to line that lap in fur and trim it in gold.

Maddox Jolie-Pitt loves war

There are generally two schools of thought when it comes to letting kids play with toys guns. Some parents see it as no big deal and shootouts in the living room don't phase them in the least. Others are horrified by the very idea of children pretending to kill one another and forbid toys guns entirely. I think it is a safe bet to assume that Angelina Jolie would fall into the first category.

According to Jolie, her eldest son Maddox thinks war is pretty cool and she wears solid gold proof of this around her neck. ''Mad, our 6-year-old, draws lots of war scenarios,'' she explains. ''He's all into war and guns. So for Mother's Day he drew a machine gun, and Brad had it made into a necklace, which is really sweet. It's really cute. I think it's really good!''

I think making jewelry from your kid's artwork is a fantastic idea. But a machine gun? Considering Jolie's tireless humanitarian work with refugee children affected by war, I would have pegged her as more of the peace-loving type.

Denise Richard's kids in therapy

Some moms boast about their young daughter's involvement in dance or gymnastics or sports, but not Denise Richards! The bitter ex-wife of Charlie Sheen felt the need to share with In Touch magazine that the couple's two daughters Sam, 4, and Lola, 3 are both in therapy.

"It's very sad that they need to be there, but they do for now. On the other hand, it's good they have an outlet to deal with their feelings and someone who is just their advocate." Richards told the magazine.

What I find really sad is that these girls have to have a hired advocate because Mommy is too busy appearing on television denying she sent their father emails asking for sperm and her reality show and Daddy is occupied with screaming at Mommy and remarrying the next victim wife. One of the parents should be able to get themselves together enough to act in the best interest of the kids, no matter how bitter the divorce was.

And apparently Denise fancies herself the "good parent" because in full-on Mother of the Year mode, she explained exactly why she's sharing her baby girl's private lives with a glorified tabloid before they're even old enough to go to school and be teased for seeing a shrink.

"If I can help anyone feel better about their kids being in therapy - then something else good has come of this, too."

Maybe instead of feigning concern over everyone else's children (which is obviously a passive-aggressive way of trying to make herself look like a responsible adult and Charlie as the problem) Denise should worry about her daughters above all else. A good start would be to keep her daughters' private business out of the headlines to the best of her ability.

Brooke Shields teaches her kid about the paparazzi

Actress and Blue Lagoon star Brooke Shields knows a thing or two about the paparazzi. Having been a child star and a young person in the constant eye of the media storm , Brooke has taken it upon herself to teach her children how to handle the media.

Brooke's daughter, Rowan, who is five, knows what to do when the paparazzi strikes. Says Rowan, when asked by her mom what to do when the media strikes, "Well, I look straight ahead and I don't look them in the eye." Shields is sorry her daughter even knows what the word 'paparazzi' means.

Shields says that teaching her children to ignore the press is a healthier way of handling them. The actress knows the paparazzi will be there no matter what she does, so better to ignore them than give them what they want, I guess. Shields is also mom to daughter Grier Hammond, two.

Christie Brinkley divorce drama begins

Christie Brinkley's divorce proceedings aren't even underway yet and already the spectacle has begun. You may recall that the 54-year-old Brinkley filed for divorce from hubby Peter Cook after catching him cheating with a 19-year-old office assistant two years ago. If that wasn't humiliation enough, Brinkley now has to deal with Cook's new love inserting herself into the sure-to-be messy divorce proceedings.

After Brinkley kicked him to the curb, Cook began dating single mom Suzanne Shaw. She's the former lover of a Park Avenue dentist who dumped her when she was six months pregnant. Because of that experience, she says she sympathizes with Brinkley. "I've been there, and I feel for her," Shaw said.

However, Shaw is concerned about the public beating she is sure Brinkley has planned for Cook and would like the former supermodel to back off her boyfriend for the sake of the kids. "He obviously made a mistake," she says. "But one mistake doesn't erase years of being a good person.

"She's doing this to publicly flog him," she continues. "This shouldn't be about her. It should be about their kids, [and] it will mean long-term, protracted damage to them."

I understand Shaw wanting to protect her man, but I think she is way out of line here. This is about Christie Brinkley, her kids and her cheating ex-husband. Shaw is entitled to her opinion, but should seriously consider keeping her mouth shut. If I were Brinkley, Shaw's comments would infuriate me.

Larry Birkhead buys lingerie for Dannielynn

The story behind that headline isn't quite as weird as you might think, but it is still kind of strange. Larry Birkhead, former lover of Anna Nicole Smith and father of her child Dannielynn, has purchased a few pieces of the late star's lingerie. No, Larry isn't a secret cross-dresser. The pink bustier and white negligee purchased at auction for a total of $2,800 are for 1-year-old Dannielynn.

The sexy items were worn by Smith for a Playboy photo shoot and Birkhead thinks they are the perfect way to help his little girl remember her mother, who died of an accidental overdose in 2007. "You know, it's not something I can show today, but something down the road," he says. "It's not going to be in any bedtime stories anytime soon."

It is worth noting that the same auction featured some Marilyn Monroe memorabilia that fetched over $100,000. Larry Birkhead may be a caring dad trying to help is little girl hang on to a piece of her late mother, but he might also be a shrewd investor. In another 45 years or so, Smith's lingerie might be worth a whole lot more.

A girl for Jamie Lynn!

Bring on the pink, Auntie Brit-Brit!

Jamie Lynn Spears, star of Zoey 101 and her fiance Casey Aldridge became proud parents to a baby daughter, Maddie Briann, around 9:30 a.m. at the Mississippi Southwest Regional Medical Center in McComb, Miss.

The bundle of sugar and spice weighed in at 7lbs, 11ozs, which is pretty impressive given Jamie Lynn's petite frame! Both mother and baby are said to be doing well.

Here's hoping little Maddie (who is the first granddaughter for grandparents Jamie and Lynn Spears and will no doubt be adored her her Spears cousins Sean Preston, 2, and Jayden James 1) signifies the start of healthier and happier times for the entire Spears clan.

Goodness knows that family has been through enough head-shaving, umbrella waving, baby dropping, car smashing, crotch flashing times to last a lifetime!

Tiger roars at U.S Open, purrs at little Sam

There are some celebrity parents who seem to trot out their children for the cameras whenever their career needs a boost (Denise Richards, I'm looking at you!) and others whose babies are as familiar as our own because of the relentless stalking of the paparazzi with long lenses (like Britney Spears and the Jolie-Pitts.) And then there the are celebrity parents who are so refreshingly normal it's easy to forget they are parents at all.

Tiger Woods and his wife Elin are part of the elite category of celebrities who have managed to avoid the spotlight and to keep their adorable baby girl far from it.

Baby Sam was sighted in a rare public appearance to support her daddy at this year's U. S. Open, which he managed to win after a stressful sudden-death playoff against Rocco Mediate.

Even the controversy Tiger garnered during the tournament was brought on by showing a good work ethic. Playing in spite of a knee injury, he modeled that sometimes you have to go to work even though you don't want to or don't feel the best. And just today the golf great announced that he would have to take off the rest of the 2008 season due to another knee surgery and the recuperation it will require, making the Open win even more amazing.

Woods had credited his current golf win to his tiny daughter saying, "There's no way I could have gotten through this without Sam being there ... just watching her grow, walking, running now, it's been just the greatest thing in the world." Here's hoping that sweet little face will prove healing for him again in this next round of treatments.

Dennis Quaid getting the family out of LA

Dennis Quaid and his wife Kimberly have had a rough time lately in Los Angeles. In November, their newborn twins almost died after accidentally being overdosed with the anti-coagulant drug Heparin and in May, Quaid testified before a House committee about his experience. Thankfully, twins Thomas Boone and Zoe Grace are both doing fine now and Quaid and company are anxious to put the nightmare behind them.

Like many of us who face near-tragedy, Dennis and Kimberly have decided that what matters most in life is family and friends and the couple are making some changes. Quaid says that he and the family are quitting Los Angeles and returning to his hometown of Houston, Texas. "The train is going down the tracks!" he says. "We have a lot of family there and we have a really nice plot of land," he says. "We have 30 or 40 friends and family members within two miles of us. Its kind of a no-brainer."

The children's near-death experience may be in the past now, but it will never be forgotten. To help ensure that what happened to them doesn't happen to someone else, Dennis and Kimberly have started a foundation to help minimize the risk of human error in hospitals. The first step, says Quaid, is making use of barcode technology. "With a bar code, [a nurse] can scan the medicine and scan the bracelet of the patient. Scan her own tag and if there's a mistake, it will come up."

What happened to those babies was an unimaginable nightmare. I don't blame the Dennis and Kimberly one bit for wanting a fresh start and I especially admire their efforts to try to make something good come out of something so bad.

Leona Helmsley's dog loses, grandkids win

When Leona Helmsley died last August, a lot of people were appalled to learn the details of her will. In it, the so-called Queen of Mean bequeathed a $12 million trust fund to her dog, Trouble, while leaving absolutely nothing to two of her grandchildren.

Apparently this didn't sit well with those grandchildren, who claim that Helmsley was not of sound mind or memory when she signed that will back in 2005. A New York judge agrees and has taken it upon himself to alter the will. The Manhattan judge slashed Trouble's inheritance to a mere $2 million and directed the estate to pay the remainder to charity. As for the grand kids, 40-year-old Craig Panzirer and 37-year-old Meegan Panzirer Wesolko will now receive a total of $6 million of their late grandma's money.

Now, I am of the opinion that a person should be able to do whatever they wish with their money, even if it is as ridiculous as leaving it to a dog. But the judge probably made the right call in recognizing that a 9-year-old dog would be hard pressed to spend $12 million dollars before going to that big doghouse in the sky. But altering the will to include family members who were deliberately excluded for "reasons known to them" seems wrong to me. While I can certainly see how her family members would all want a slice of that billion dollar pie, I don't see how they are entitled to receive it against her wishes.

Liv Tyler on the joys of single parenthood

Actress, Givenchy spokeswoman and all-around pretty lady Liv Tyler recently spilled the beans on what life has been like since becoming a single mom. The Hulk star recently split from Spacehog rocker Royston Langdon and has been going it solo with their four-year-old son, Milo.

Tyler, who has always seemed so down to earth to me, despite being daughter of rock legend Steven Tyler, says she spends her evenings at home in front of the television instead of partying. And, she likes it!

After five years in a high-profile marriage, I can imagine Liv, or anyone, enjoying the quiet life! Tyler says her other favorite activity other than holing up in her New York City pad is eating popcorn and going to the movies. With two new movies out (The Hulk and the previously released The Strangers) I can imagine wanting to spend a little down time at home!
